Summary Family scenes at Black Rock and East Brighton, where the children play on the beach, taken in around 1966. Panning footage from Kemptown promenade across the beach to the Palace Pier is included.
Description A Volks Railway train moves towards the camera towards Brighton's Palace Pier, along the beach below Kempton, East Brighton. The grass verge at Black Rock is seen, where families sit and picnic together looking out to the sea. The camera pans across the cars parked below, beach and sea, to the Palace Pier in the distance. Andrew is seen with his sister Sally-Ann, on the beach at high tide, both with hair bleached by the summer sun. Andrew climbs into a rowing boat, moored on the beach. The Volks train is seen, passing back towards Black Rock. The beach is seen from Kemptown promenade, looking down to the playground and walkway stretching towards the Palace Pier. Driving scenes follow; Brighton Pavilion is seen in footage shot from a car window. The car passes along the motorway, where cars queue, unmoving, in the other lane.
