Summary A group of playful young friends take a camping trip by the seaside to West Wittering in Summer 1960.
Description Two young women walk through a park, wearing full skirts and headscarves. They play fight with a young man, tickling him on the grass. A group of friends, standing by the boot of a car, turn and wave to the camera, packing for their holiday. They stop on a motorway, scrapping and picking flowers on a grass verge by the road. They are seen in a tent, lying side by side, a scooter beside them. At the beach, the group sit together with a picnic basket. Groynes stretch up from a flat expanse of sand to pebbles above. The men kick a football to each other on the sand. The young women strike pin-up poses for the camera, wearing oversized jumpers and loose slacks, smiling and shaking their hips in jest. The men carrying the women down to the sea on their shoulders. One of the men tries to slip his swimming trunks on underneath a towel to protect his modesty, but the others pull at the towel. The women, wearing elaborate swimming costumes, play with a ball in the sea. One of the men pretends to fall over in the water dramatically, when a dog leaps through the breakers, barking in alarm. One of the young men rides the scooter behind a car, from which the footage is taken. He waves and smiles to the camera. Godfrey Davis, a car dealer, is seen, where a woman cleans at the petrol pumps.
