| Description |
Rolling opening titles: "Royal National Lifeboat Institution Selsey and District Branch. The handing over ceremony and dedication of Selsey inshore rescue boat". Brass band soundtrack plays as people stand around the inshore lifeboat station looking at the new lifeboat - "D164"; the boat is partly covered by an RNLI flag. The commentary gives the background to the event, explaining that the lifeboat is a gift from Croydon Round Table. Lifeboat crew change into drysuits; a large crowd is gathered as a priest conducts the ceremony. The lifeboat is pushed down the beach on a trailer to the shoreline from where it is launched. People are also gathered on the pier to watch a demonstration. The commentary explains the demonstration as an RAF rescue helicopter appears overhead. Two people are hoisted from the water and placed on the lifeboat which returns them to the safety of the beach. Some brief shots from inside the lifeboat house, from where the side of the other Selsey lifeboat can be seen: "RNLB Canadian Pacific". The film concludes with a still: "The End". |
