Information
About this site
This site provides a searchable catalogue of over 800 selected films from the collection of the Screen Archive South East. The database can be browsed by 'Theme' or by 'Collection'. The database is also fully searchable using the quick search box at the top of the screen or by using the advanced search options. The selected films aim to provide a cross section of the archive's collection - illustrating some of the most important film collections and key themes that emerge from the archive.
A glossary of terms and key subject areas provides some definitions and explanations of terms used on this site.
The catalogue
The online catalogue provides information about each of the films including a description of the content, the date of production, geographical locations, film format and production credits. For over 100 of these films, contextual information and references to related resources has been gathered, providing links for further research around the region or nationally.
Over 100 of the films on the site also have a short video clip which can be viewed online. Information on playing the clips and the software requirements for this can be found on the clip help pages.
Where stills taken from the film are available, these are displayed
in the search results. Films with accompanying clips are indicated in
search results with this additional icon: ![]()
